Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit markusbutoln.com or contact me, and what rights you have. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Visiting this website
This website is hosted by Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd.). When you open a page, technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of access is processed so the site can be delivered securely. Images, fonts and icons are delivered through content delivery networks so the site loads quickly. This is based on my legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
3. Contact form, email, phone and WhatsApp
If you contact me, I use the details you provide (such as your name, email or phone number, the date and location of the shoot and your message) to answer your enquiry and, if we work together, to plan and carry out the project. Form submissions are stored with my website provider. If you message me on WhatsApp, WhatsApp (Meta) processes your data under its own privacy policy.
4. Cookies and analytics
Strictly necessary cookies keep the website working. With your consent, I use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC) to understand how the website is used, for example which pages are visited. Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner; without your consent Google only receives limited signals without cookies. You can change your choice at any time by deleting the cookies in your browser; the banner will then appear again. Google may process data in the USA. My website provider Hostinger may also use Amplitude for anonymous platform analytics, again only with your consent.
5. Embedded videos and social media
The Video page shows videos hosted on Vimeo (Vimeo.com, Inc., USA). When a video loads, Vimeo receives your IP address and may set cookies. Links to Instagram only send data to Instagram (Meta) when you click them.
6. Data outside Switzerland and the EU
Some of the providers named above may process data in other countries, including the USA. In these cases data is only transferred with appropriate safeguards, such as the Swiss-US or EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
7. How long data is kept
Enquiries are kept as long as needed to answer them; for clients, as long as the project and statutory retention obligations (for example accounting records) require. Analytics data is deleted automatically after the retention period set in Google Analytics.
8. Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, have it corrected or deleted, object to its processing, withdraw your consent at any time and, where applicable, receive your data in a portable format. Just email info@markusbutoln.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the authority in your country of residence.

I may update this policy when the website or the law changes. Last updated: October 2026.
